Jaime Munguia vs. John Ryder headline the next Golden Boy Fight Night card in Phoenix, Arizona on January 27 at the Footprint Center, Live on DAZN.
Mexican former light middleweight world champion Jaime Munguia (42-0, 33 KOs) puts his undefeated record on the line against the very game top contender John “The Gorilla” Ryder (32-6, 18 KOs) of Great Britain. The two will collide in a super middleweight main event set for 12-rounds.
Munguia switched trainers from Tijuana boxing legend Erik “El Terrible” Morales to the great Freddie Roach who took Filipino southpaw Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao to the top of the boxing world by polishing his offensive skills and making him a more complete punching machine.
Roach told media you will see a much improved Munguia and he aims to get a stoppage over Ryder on Saturday night.
Ryder put on a very game performance in his last outing against Canelo Alvarez in Mexico, he fell short of the decision but was able to go the full 12 rounds and not get stopped. He gained confidence hanging with the former pound for pound king, and that will carry over into his fight with Munguia who he feels isn’t as talented as Canelo.
