WBO light welterweight world champion Teofimo Lopez continues his takeover tour and he will face Canadian challenger Steve Claggett at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida on Saturday, June 29 live on Top Rank Boxing on ESPN.
The final press conference will take place on Thursday and the combatants and their trainers will share their final thoughts before they square off in the ring on Saturday night.
Lopez (20-1, 13 KOs) is one of the most explosive and outspoken fighters in boxing today. The two-weight world champion is unpredictable in and out of the ring, sometimes he puts on masterful boxing displays and other times it looks like he is just going through the motions in the ring. He fights to his level of competition and this could be the opportunity for his opponent Steve Claggett (38-7-2, 26 KOs) to pull off an upset.
If Lopez takes Claggett lightly like he did George Kambosos Jr. who is the only pro boxer to defeat him, he could end up on the losing end.
Lopez became the undisputed 140-pound champion be dethroning Josh Taylor in a shocking upset, Lopez moved up from 135 lbs to take on the best guy in the division and battered him in one of the most dominant displays of boxing in recent memory.
