Montreal, Canada – Tomorrow night, October 30, 2025, the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal transforms into a battleground for women’s boxing supremacy as undefeated Canadian champion Mary Spencer puts her WBA super welterweight title on the line against American star Mikaela Mayer in a high-stakes 10-round unification bout for the WBA, vacant WBC, and WBO super welterweight crowns at 154 pounds.
With the 2,500-seat venue nearing sellout status and doors opening at 6:00 p.m. ET, this clash – promoted by Eye of the Tiger Management and Top Rank – promises fireworks in front of a raucous hometown crowd for the 40-year-old Spencer.
Mary Spencer (10-0, 6 KOs early sources; updated 10-2, 6 KOs), the 5’11” orthodox powerhouse from Windsor, Ontario, enters as the fan-favorite underdog despite her pristine pro run since turning professional in 2021. A five-time amateur world champion and 2012 Olympic bronze medalist, Spencer captured the WBA belt in September 2024 and defended it in April 2025 with a unanimous decision over former champ Ogleidis Suarez. Her long reach and knockout power have Canadian fans dreaming of her etching her name as the nation’s premier female fighter – perhaps eyeing future clashes with the likes of Claressa Shields.
Challenger Mikaela Mayer (21-2, 5 KOs), the 35-year-old, 5’9″ technician from Woodland Hills, California, brings elite experience and ambition. A two-division world champion (super featherweight and current WBO welterweight titleholder), Mayer rebounded from a 2022 loss to Natasha Jonas with dominant wins, including back-to-back triumphs over Sandy Ryan in 2024-2025. Known for her slick footwork, counterpunching, and relentless pressure, she’s chasing history as the first woman to hold titles in super featherweight, lightweight, and super welterweight.
Their paths nearly crossed at the 2012 Olympics, adding poetic tension to this pro settling of scores 13 years in the making.
Both warriors made weight with ease on October 29: Spencer at 152.8 lbs, Mayer at 151 lbs – setting the stage for a green-lit war.
At the final presser, Spencer exuded confidence: “I don’t feel like an underdog”, stressing her comfort against Mayer’s style and excitement to shine for Canada. Mayer fired back: “This is the fight I’ve been waiting for”, calling Spencer a “worthy opponent” from her amateur days and vowing to “dethrone” her en route to bigger things.
Early betting odds list Mayer as the favorite (Spencer +425 underdog), but Spencer’s home grit could flip the script.
