HBO recently scooped up one of the hottest young boxers today, 140 pound, undefeated WBO champion, Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley (25-0, 11 KOs).
Timothy Bradley is widely regarded as the top guy in the junior welterweight division, since Manny Pacquiao vacated the division and moved up to welterweight.
Bradley previously fought for the cable network Showtime, until HBO was able to strike a deal with Bradley’s promoter, Gary Shaw, and Manager Cameron Dunkin to air Timothy Bradley’s next fight.
Bradley’s HBO debut, a June 26th HBO Boxing After Dark show against undefeated Luis Carlos Abregu (29-0, 23 KOs) will be fought at the welterweight limit and Bradley doesn’t have to defend his WBO 140 pound title.
Bradley vs. Abregu will take place near Bradley’s hometown of Palm Springs, California, at the Agua Caliente resort in Rancho Mirage, California.
HBO currently has the best light welterweights in boxing; Amir Khan, Paulie Malignaggi, Ricky Hatton, Devon Alexander, Victor Ortiz to name a few, and are looking to help develop new stars to carry the torch once Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao choose to leave the sport.
Adding Bradley to the mix sets up a lot of interesting match ups in what has become the deepest division in boxing today.
