Golden Boy CEO predicts a possible 4 million PPV buys for Mayweather vs. Mosley

April 29, 2010 By NB News 1 Comment

Richard Schaefer who runs Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions has made one of the boldest statements regarding Pay-Per-View buy rate predictions, he predicts the Floyd Mayweather Jr-Sugar Shane Mosley “Who R U Picking?” HBO PPV can possibly reach 4 million buys.

“I am not going to say that we are going to break the all time pay-per-view record. I’m not going to say we are going to do 3 million either… 4 million Pay-Per-View buys are possible,” Schaefer said at the Final press conference for Mayweather-Mosley.

Most boxing insiders would have guessed a 1.5 million buy rate for this fight, but going as far as 4 million buys is pushing it. The record number was set by Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya when they fought in 2007, they sold 2.4 million Pay-Per-View’s.

Schaefer believes because of all the heavy promotion for this fight the PPV numbers will far exceed peoples expectations for Mayweather Vs. Mosley.
