Mikkel “The Viking Warrior” Kessler (42-2, 32 KOs) of Denmark challenges undefeated champion Carl “The Cobra” Froch (26-0, 20 KOs) of Nottingham, England for his WBC super-middleweight title in Group Stage 2 of SHOWTIME’s Super Six (168 lbs) Super Middleweight World Boxing Classic Tournament.
Mikkel Kessler lost to Andre Ward in Group Stage 1 while Carl Froch holds a win over Andre Dirrell in his Group Stage 1 match-up. For Kessler this win is do or die, he needs this win to improve his position in the tournament after losing to Andre Ward in the first stage. Win or lose, Carl Froch’s next opponent in the Super Six will be Arthur Abraham.
The Froch vs. Kessler boxing match will take place in front of Kessler’s home crowd at the sold-out MCH Messecenter Herning in Herning, Denmark. It will be aired in the US on Saturday, April 24, 9:00 pm ET/PT on SHOWTIME cable network.
