I’ve been a boxing fan of Manny Pacquiao for many years and I never bet against my fellow Filipino countryman but for this fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. it is the first time I don’t have enough confidence in my Idol Manny Pacquiao to win.
I will always support and root for him but I hope that Manny Pacquiao retires and doesn’t box anymore because he is already a legend and has nothing left to prove to anyone in boxing.
When Manny fought that dark African fighter Joshua Clottey I saw Manny was slower in that fight and it is normal when a fighter is over 30 years old they will slow down and not be as fast as they were when they were 25. I also don’t want to see a humble hero like him beaten by a loud mouth like Floyd Mayweather when he is on the downturn of his career.
We know the strategy of Floyd Mayweather, he will only fight boxers who are washed up or he can see they are beatable. He will never face them in their respective primes.
That is why if Floyd sign this contract versus Pacman it will make me nervous because something doesn’t seem right to me. Floyd only sign to fight guys that he knows he can beat and maybe he can see the same thing I saw when Manny fought Joshua Clottey, he saw that Manny was slower than usual and being hit more often.
Every fight that Manny fought I was always confident in him to win but not this time. When Floyd Mayweather fought Shane Mosley I was shock that he didn’t run and he can also move forward and back up the power puncher in Mosley. I thought if Mayweather got hurt he will run like a chicken like he did against Jose Luis Castillo but when Mosley hit him twice with power punch he didn’t run he actually kept coming forward.
Maybe I am just thinking too much into this out of concern for Manny Pacquiao but I would rather have him retire already with his legacy intact and focus on his political career. I don’t want to see him wind up another Filipino boxing tragedy like the Bad Boy from Dadiangas, Rolando Navarrete.
