Manny Pacquiao to fight Gamboa before Mayweather?

Most of you are familiar with Manny Pacquiao’s track record of opponents and it looks like he will probably be cherry picking featherweight Yuriorkis Gamboa for his next catch weight fight. Gamboa called Manny Pacquiao out after his win over Daniel Ponce de Leon on Saturday night, he was probably told by Top Rank to call the Pacman out to set up Manny’s next pay-per-view fight.

It’s not shocking if Gamboa is the next opponent for the Pacman because his team has been cherry picking his fights for him. Just to refresh your memory, Oscar De La Hoya was weight drained and shot; Ricky Hatton was never the same after he was knocked out by Floyd Mayweather Jr,; Miguel Cotto was beat to a pulp by Antonio Margarito and Pacquiao drained him at a catch weight of 145-pounds; Joshua Clottey never threw any punches; Antonio Margarito was destroyed by Sugar Shane Mosley and never the same; Sugar Shane Mosley’s soul was taken from him by Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Pacquiao’s next fight is against a 38-year-old blown up lightweight Juan Manuel Marquez at 144-pound catch weight and let’s not forget the beating Floyd Mayweather put on him.

Now Top Rank and Team Pacquiao will eye Yuriorkis Gamboa as a future opponent for Manny Pacquiao and will promote him as an undefeated, slick, black, Cuban fighter with an Olympic gold medal. It’s getting obvious how it works because Bob Arum doesn’t want Manny Pacquiao anywhere near Floyd Mayweather Jr., he will continue to make negotiations difficult and find new excuses to come up with to avoid putting Pacman in the ring with Money Mayweather.

If Pacquiao vs. Gamboa happens, I think we need to automatically strip Manny Pacquiao of his pound for pound title and remove him of his “Fighter of the Decade” award. How can you be great if you are fighting washed up fighters at catch weights and picking on smaller men? This is a disgrace to boxing and to all the legendary boxers who fought like true champions.
