Many of the Manny Pacquiao fans including myself aren’t too pleased with the boastful and highly arrogant nature of Alex Ariza. He was bragging on HBO 24/7 how easy Juan Manuel Marquez would be and how “Not even GOD could even beat Pacquiao that night” something that I am sure the highly religious Pacquiao would take offense too. Ariza’s head has gotten so big and I think Freddie Roach needs to replace him with someone more low key and respectful, someone who really knows sports science and nutrition, someone like Victor Conte.
If Manny Pacquiao keeps getting leg cramps in his fight something isn’t right. It looks more like Manny is overtraining and maybe doesn’t have enough fluids in his system, cramping is a sign of dehydration.
I’ve seen Victor Conte and his team work on videos for Nonito Donaire’s training camp and they use a smart training method, they don’t over exert the fighter and make sure his body is well rested and not overtrained. Victor Conte even does a blood analysis and checks for vitamin deficiency. Conte would be better for Freddie Roach and his fighters like Manny Pacquiao, Amir Khan and Julio Chavez Jr., because he doesn’t interfere with boxing strategy and keeps everything professional while Ariza has become too cocky and talkative.
It bothered me seeing Ariza as a third man in the corner. Why was Alex Ariza in the corner and giving instructions? The only ones who should be permitted to talk to Manny in that corner are Freddie Roach and Buboy Fernandez who helps translate to Pacquiao the instructions given to him by Freddie Roach.
I wasn’t impressed with Manny Pacquiao’s conditioning for the Shane Mosley fight and I wasn’t impressed with his conditioning for the Juan Manuel Marquez fight. Something seemed off like Manny was pushed too hard in training and his body didn’t get enough time to recuperate. I know Roach and Pacquiao will not fire Ariza because Pacquiao is loyal to him and considers him a friend, but friendship should be put aside and he needs someone new and I know Victor Conte wouldn’t try and give boxing advice to Manny in the corner the way Alex Ariza did.
I don’t hate Ariza but I just think he’s let the fame on 24/7 get to his head and he should know his role in the camp and not try to interfere in the corner while Roach is giving instructions.
