Chris Eubank on Current Affairs

Chris Eubank on David Price and Tyson Fury

Whether these giants can meet European and even World level remains to be seen. Of the two giants, Fury has all the advantages in youth, height, reach, experience and style and I would favour him over David Price. But that’s not to say that David isn’t a dangerman in his own right – he may well be. Who knows? He doesn’t fight frequently enough for us to know, and will we ever know? I don’t know.

Chris Eubank on Ricky Hatton

I was an admirer of Ricky Hatton just as everybody else was. He had perhaps the most difficult straight run of opponents I’ve ever known in about his last 10 fights – certainly of any fighter out of the United Kingdom in recent times – in that he never seemed to be in there with an orthodox, defensively conventional and offensively textbook operator and yet was able to shine in world title-winning efforts many times. He was a very, very good fighter and now has the opportunity to become a great.

The chap he’s fighting – I believe he’s a European, right? He must have that typical European style and that will be good for Ricky, who I consider to be an unorthodox offensive fighter.

Chris Eubank on Amir Khan

Another fighter who has the opportunity to become a great. Khan is a case where he turned professional very raw though very talented and prior to learning all the fundamental technical defensive skills. He still needs a lot of time with a trainer to keep polishing him up but he will come through strong – history tell us that because he always has.

Chris Eubank on Andre Ward

I know I would beat almost all of the fighters out there. Andre Ward would be an exception. Traditionally, strategic chess players and movers are that way because they aren’t strong enough on the inside range – but Ward is the complete package, and winning a fight requires a game plan that exposes an incomplete package. So Ward would be difficult in accordance with that.

I don’t know if I’d have beaten Bernard Hopkins of perhaps five years previous, for the same reasoning.
