What a way to kick off the Saint Patrick’s day holiday weekend in New York City. Madison Square Garden is going to be lively Friday and Saturday nights.
We have the the Irishman Olympic bronze medalist Michael Conlan making his pro boxing debut tomorrow night at the theater in Madison Square Garden. The next night, unbeaten middleweight kingpin Gennady Golovkin will be squaring off against the miracle man Daniel Jacobs in Madison Square Garden. Both nights promising to bring fireworks to boxing fans.
Michael Conlan is an exciting prospect who hails from Ireland and there is excitement going around about his pro debut that many are looking forward to. What a night it would be if he did get his win on St. Patrick’s Day in front of the Irish fans. All eyes will be on Conlan as he gets to showcase his skills and prove to fans that he has what it takes to make it in the pro ranks. He will be accompanied by fellow Irishman and UFC champion Conor McGregor. What a St. Patrick’s day it would be if he wins which would be a double celebration for the Irish.
The following night, we get to witness Gennady Golovkin defending his titles against Brooklyn’s own Daniel Jacobs. Golovkin is going to go out there and prove once again, why he’s the best middleweight fighter. If he wins, according to sources would set up a fight against Canelo Alvarez if he beats Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Daniel Jacobs has the will and strength to defeat Golovkin but will he be able to keep up with the humbled Golovkin.
This is arguably the best fight weekend that we may have in 2017. I’m not sure when the last time we had an action packed weekend such as this one. If the fights live up to the expectations this will be a weekend that fight fans will talk about forever.
