Amir Khan rumored to sign with Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions
According to reports by the Daily Star UK, British-Pakistani boxing champion Amir Khan has dumped long time promoter Frank Warren for Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions and will head over to fight on American soil against Italian American boxer Paulie Malignaggi at Madison Square Garden on May 1.
Khan has always dreamed about fighting in the United States especially since he trains out of the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California with trainer Freddie Roach and alongside boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao.
Nothing is official yet, but if the reports are true, Amir Khan would be following the footsteps of other British stars who have fought in America like Joe Calzaghe, Lennox Lewis, Prince Naseem Hamed and Ricky Hatton.
Like Oscar De La Hoya, Khan has the looks, the personality and the boxing ability to help make him a marketable superstar.
