Manny Pacquiao says MMA is a sport that should be recognized
Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao refused to play into the Boxing vs. MMA antics that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has in the past, and shows nothing but respect for the sport of MMA.
Pacquiao was asked by a fan during an ESPN Sports Nation Chat if he would ever try MMA and his thoughts on the sport, his response:
“It’s too violent for me but it’s a sport that should be recognized. It’s a great sport but not the sport for me.”
Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, is known to belittle the UFC and MMA, so, it’s ironic that his own fighter has nothing negative to say and respects MMA.

Pacquiao’s opinion on MMA should make UFC President Dana White smile, White is a huge Manny Pacquiao fan, and despite his ongoing feud with Bob Arum, White will fly out to Dallas for the Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight.
White is known for his generosity via twitter having given out thousands of free tickets to UFC events.
So it’s no surprise Dana White announced on his twitter that he is giving away 10 free tickets to “REAL” fight fans, meaning those who enjoy both Boxing and MMA, to watch the “The Event” with him live.
Despite his harsh criticism on the health of the sport, Dana White is a huge boxing fan at heart, and still enjoys watching boxing.
Saturday, March 13, 2010, Manny Pacquiao will fight Joshua Clottey on HBO PPV at the brand new Dallas Cowboys stadium. Some tickets for “The Event” are still available, you can order them at tickemaster.com. For those who can’t make it to Dallas and watch it live, you can order the fight on HBO PPV, the price $49.99, contact your local cable provider to order.

Of Course Manny respects MMA! because he knows they will kick his butt in a real fight!
MMA owns pillow fighting, One punch from those 6 oz MMA gloves and Pacquiao would be sleeping with the fishes.
Manny knows who the true badasses are and bows to them like every other boxing fan should.
UFC is taking over!
The Rock has already kicked Brock Lesnar’s a$$ along with that boss a$$ kisser Triple H. Manny will take on people with just his fist…and can knock out the best MMA of his same size and class. Thats the damn truth Jabroni….because The Rock said it is.
I still like boxing, What i dont like about MMA is the hugging and grabbing each other’s crotch while rolling around the floor. The winner is determined by who can squeeze the opponents balls the hardest…lol…. no thank you, boxing is too “violent” for me…hihihihi….hohoho…hahaha…ehermm.. peace!
“The winner is deteremined who can squeeze the opponents balls the hardest..”
The Rock is laughing so flucking hard.
@lesnar ltw quite on the contrary, most of the ufc folks wouldnt make i thru a round with pac if he could hit them with those 6 oz. gloves. As a striker, pac could be devastating. If tommy hearns could have fought mma at lightweight or middle, there’d be alot of dead fighters. most mma fighters are strong and fast, but their overall punching technique is easy to read (most of the time), and elite boxers could counter mma punches pretty easily. the rolling on the ground stuff is another story.
not true, your whole boxing game changes when you step n the ufc because u gota worry about defending kicks and take downs so its the other way round, tommy hearn would of died
Kyle why would Tommy Hearns be dead? you sound like a trendy kid, someone who is into whats hot, remember when Karate was the new thing every white person was doing it in the 1980s.
Boxing is the king, the noble art, and anyone who thinks negative of it because of a few bad guys like Tyson and don king, are prejudice and probably dislike certain minorities cause they met a few bad apples and they over look the positives.
Tommy hearns would murder any MMA fighter who tried to box with him.
its sad when men have to mount other men just to win
Rampage Jackson and Chuck Liddell hit harder than mike Tyson, they proved it on FSN sports science show.
how did they measure mike tyson’s punches as a 19 year old vs. jackson or lidell? @kyle, why do you think so many mma guys are going to boxing trainers to learn how to punch? In hearns’ weight class, he would have had a high ko ratio.

punchers vs. fighters.
Boxers are punchers. They are REALLY good at ONE thing: PUNCHING.
Mixed Martial Artists are fighters. They know how to FIGHT really good.
If a fighter got into a punching match he would lose. If a pucher got into a fight with a fighter he would lose.
James Toney is going to get his ass kicked from anyone with any type of MMA skill. Puching is dangerous, but it is just a small part of the MMA game.
I like how stupid boxing fans are thinking punching only will beat kicking, punching, grappling, throwing.
kicks are stronger than punches. and once you take a dumb boxer down, the fight is over.
Anyone with 2 months of MMA training will beat the living shit out of ANY pro boxers in a street fight. EASILY! Kick to the leg, jab, and single leg shoot. Ground and pound, stomp, choke or armbar, goodnight to the boxer!
It’s funny how and Idiot MMA fanatic who probably got beat up by a boxer as a kid, has to say some stupid crap like this, in an article where PACQUIAO recognizes MMA.
Way to go buddy, showing your insecurities, who cares about a real fight, boxing is funner to watch, the majority of the people who watch MMA love the boxing and striking the best.
Nice one NED… you made my point for me: who cares about a real fight.
I’m assuming you are talking about MMA being a REAL fight . IMO two people punching with big red pillows on is not nearly as exciting as watching two guys fight with 8oz gloves on.
Punchers vs. Fighters so funny.
