Should Texas test Antonio Margarito for ‘Steroids’ before Pacquiao bout?

The Texas state athletic commission doesn’t  consider prefight drug testing a requirement so they usually don’t test the fighters for performance enhancing drugs. But for this particular fight between Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito I think they should make an exception to the rule.

Joshua Clottey and Manny Pacquiao were not testing for steroids in their March 13 fight at the Dallas Cowboys stadium. I for one believe both those guys were clean and drug free. I also believe Pacquiao has never used a steroid in his life and was just a victim of the jealous Mayweather family smear campaign to ruin the Pacman’s image.

Pacquiao never put on 15 to 20 pounds of muscle in one year like the Pacquiao detractors claim. In all of Manny’s fights at featherweight he has always been ripped and muscular. At featherweight Manny would weigh in on fight day at around 142-145 pounds, which is his natural walk around weight. Pacquiao in his fights with De La Hoya, Hatton, Cotto and Clottey never weighed more than 148 pounds on fight night — the man never put on 15-20 pounds of muscle — he just never cut weight and fights at his natural size of 148 pounds against bigger men.

The only reason the Mayweathers are accusing him of steroid use is because they are envious of his impressive accomplishments and the adulation he is receiving from fans.

Manny’s opponent on November 13 is Antonio Margarito a known cheat in boxing who got caught with plastered handwraps before his TKO loss to Shane Mosley in 2009, but claims he had no idea what his former trainer Javier Capetillo was doing.

I think we should be more concerned about Antonio Margarito taking something extra than we should with Manny Pacquiao.

On HBO 24/7 “FACE-OFF” with Max Kellerman, Manny said he believes Margarito knew about the handwraps and Margarito replied with his own questions about Pacquiao and him using steroids.

That comment seemed as if Margarito believes Manny is taking steroids and that if Texas the state that licensed Margarito doesn’t test for performance enhancement drugs he might think it’s ok to take them because he thinks Manny is on them so why can’t I?

Margarito’s body is going through a Fernando Vargas type transformation, remember when Fernando Vargas’ body looked more hard and chiseled when he fought Oscar De La Hoya and later it was found out that Fernando was taking steroids for that fight. Margarito at age 32  all of a sudden is becoming more muscular with red skin (a common side  effect of steroid use), vascular and has a bigger chest?

I am not accusing Margarito of taking any type of steroids but just speculating the possibility.  Look at the photos provided below and look at the difference in physique of Antonio Margarito compared to when he fought Miguel Cotto. In the majority of Margarito’s fights his body has always been soft and lean but for the Pacquiao fight his body is harder and more muscular.

Here is a photo of Margarito’s soft body during weigh-ins for his fight with Miguel Cotto

Below are recent photos taken by Fight News photographer Ricardo Conde of Antonio Margarito looking more muscular and ripped
